Background

Shawn Mason is Director of Innovation for Umoja’s Hunger Relief Division. Shawn is a solution minded and innovative project manager with 30 years of experience in operations, sales and distribution, 12 of which were spent serving a hunger relief organization. 

Shawn also brings an extensive skillset in community-based partnerships. While leading efforts to expand meal access, Shawn formed partnerships in 28 cities and 2 tribal nations, while also managing disaster relief for a foundation. During the COVID pandemic, Shawn led a nation-wide response serving 6.8 million meals, shipped direct-to-home. Shawn continues to drive breakthrough innovation that connects food to people and people to jobs, increasing economic access for all.    

Outside of work, you will most likely find Shawn playing catch with his 13-year-old daughter, rebuilding a Jeep, making and/or eating BBQ, or enjoying the shade of his seats at Wrigley Field cheering on the Cubs.
