Genelle Monger

Regional Sales Manager | Northeast & Midwest

Background

Genelle now brings her knowledge and expertise in food banking, public health, and food insecurity to the Umoja family as a Regional Sales Manager with our Hunger Team, covering the Northeast and Midwest regions.  

Genelle began her career addressing food insecurity with Feeding America as a Child Hunger Corp member, identifying community needs and expanding youth programming throughout Indiana. From there she spent 4 years working in public health. She completed a two-year fellowship through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called the Public Health Associate Program where she worked with American Indian communities in Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Chicago. Genelle also worked at the Minnesota Department of Health in the Center for Health Equity. Along with some consulting work focusing on doula access for Black expectant mothers. Lastly, before joining the Umoja team Genelle worked at Feeding America where she served as a project manager for the Advancing Health Equity through Healthcare Partnerships grants. Through her work with Umoja, Genelle utilizes her experience to support communities in making the best choices for themselves to improve food security and health outcomes. 

Genelle is a candidate for a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Minnesota in Maternal and Child Health and a minor in Health Equity and received her BA in Global and International Studies from Western Michigan University. In her free time, Genelle teaches dance classes at Fresh Movement Dance Center and spends time with her dog Theodore.
